booyah, take that holiday season
11:08 am
Yesterday was a very productive day! Sara and I went shopping over on Merritt Island and I am pretty much done! All I have left is a present for Maria, which I think Sierra and I are splitting so I have to wait to get that till the next time we work together. But what a relief. Now I just have to pay off my CC bill. And buy textbooks for next semester. D:
Afterwards Sara and I hung out for awhile, surfed the intrawebs, watched a little bit of Bunty Aur Babli (which I finally broke down and bought for myself) and then went to Pineapple Bay. Sarah S. and I had got take out from Pineapple Bay before and I wasn't very impressed (we got beef curry, non-spicy, but still I didn't like the flavor at all), but I wanted to give it another go since everyone raves about it. This time I got pad thai without the chili sauce and it was so. good. Although still very spicy to me! I thought it was going to taste like it had been slathered in peanut butter but it didn't at all. It was really good. Afterwards Sara got a "kaya crepe" which had coconut jam in it and she let me try it... it was so amazing. I should have got one for myself, too, lol. I'm glad I gave them another shot!
I'm getting really excited for Krysti to get here. Screw Christmas, it's all about Krystimas, hahaha. Not looking forward to this weekend at work but at least it will all be over in a week. Yay!

Makin' it rain...
11:54 am
I have been spending so much money lately. Obviously, it's Christmas, but I've been buying stuff for myself too. I've really blown a lot of money this year; it's kind of distressing. I still have about 6 presents left to buy, which will be another $100+. And unfortunately there are some things I want/need to get for myself. I've been saying "I'll wait till after Xmas," but I think I'm gonna buy everything now and then buy nothing else after the new year, just work on paying my CC bill. Which actually isn't too bad, but still. No more spending after the 31st, that is my resolution.
Of course I'll probably have to pay $200+ in textbooks immediately after Xmas... ugghhghgh.

the goddamn batman!
12:38 am
I hate when I buy something and then I don't hear back from someone for a few days, and I think "Well, I'm just being nervous; I need to wait." And then I still don't hear back, and I start getting even more paranoid, like maybe I did something wrong, so I hold out for as long as I can and then finally contact them and they get back to me ASAP and it's all good. And then I feel like the world's biggest jerk for emailing them. I don't know why; I'm just like "ooooh my god I'm such an asshole!"
I just did that two times in one day, oh man.
Anyway I finally saw The Dark Knight tonight; it was a pretty good movie but I still don't really like Batman (as a superhero) that much. Also I am definitely disagreeing with the entire internet on the awesomeness of the Joker. Keep him as far away from me as possible. Also Two Face is the worst thing in the world. I had to cover my eyes every time he was on screen. Do not want. DX

I bought a keyhole shirt (is that what they're called?) in black as a general "nice shirt to wear with random skirts I have" shirt. Against my better judgement I bought it online, something I never do with clothes because I'm so small and finding clothes that fit takes a lot of testing out, usually. But I was pretty confident that a small would fit me. I mean it's only a shirt right?
Okay, well the shirt fits fine. It's the "keyhole" that's the problem. Hello Amanda's bosoms. I don't even really have bosoms, and I think maybe that's the problem as there's nothing to hold the keyhole up where it belongs. There is absolutely no way I can wear this in public without getting arrested. I look like a celebrity whose "risque" dress is going to be immortalized for all time in various magazines like J-Lo's blue and green boobie dress. DX
It looks okay with a tank top underneath I guess... maybe a little silly.
Not really worth an LJ post but I am disappointed and sad. NEVER AGAIN THE CLOTHES-BUYING-ON-THE-INTERNET TIMES!!! *shakes fist*

I was hella sick last night for a long time and I even threw up for the first time in a long time. It doesn't happen to me much and it was very uncool. And then afterwards the best/worst thing ever happened to me: I laid back down and couldn't breathe, so I went to blow my nose and I blew out... a red pepper. It was so gross but really really funny. I feel much better now. I can eat again! Yay! These things cheer me up: - I won a 200-page doujinshi anthology on ebay for 16 bucks last night. No big deal to you guys, but that is a awesome deal. Excited.
- I have an interview tomorrow at a school for a data clerk job! I so won't get it but I am excited anyway! It's on Merritt Island which would be quite a drive but I would also be making like $11 an hour if I got it (which I won't, lol, -- especially after they hear that I'd still want to put in a two-weeks notice at Staples -- but wish me luck anyhow).
- Amanda N. /
cinemachick linked this in Krysti's journal and I laughed so hard I had to share it with you all:
I'm getting Schindler's List in Netflix today and I'm sure that will kill my good mood. I've never seen it before as I was always "too young," but I think it's one of those movies that everyone should probably see. So I'm gonna buckle up and watch it.

My bento box came in the mail today! It is so cute but I'm seriously surprised at how TINY it seems... Actually when I compare it to a Lean Cuisine dish it's probably about the same size or larger... now I have to figure out what sort of foods I want to cram in there. :) I really want to attempt to make onigiri because they sound soooo good, but alas we have no rice cooker. I have a recipe for beef onigiri that sounds pretty amazing. I want to eat rice so bad and all we have here is... like... Rice-a-Roni. :( This is all the fault of eat_my_bento for making me think that if I bought myself a bento box all of the sudden I would have delicious, beautiful lunches. XD

SPEND SPEND SPEND CONSUME CONSUME BUY
11:00 am
God dammit. So after I promise myself not to make any more frivolous purchases, I go in to Target for soda and come out with $100 worth of clothes. :/ Stupid Target, with your comfortable, soft clothes that actually fit me and make me look totally rad. Damn you!
But yeah, um, Target always has really awesome clothes there, and I was like "okay, I need some new tank tops and some solid-color skirts; I shall try some on," and lo and behold they actually fit me and stuff. All very nice clothes, most of which I'd say are "work casual" for the job I will never have, excluding one really neat skirt and one halter top. And they're all super soft and breathy because I think Target's brands weave their shirts out of pure unicorn hair.
But definitely after this, no more buying things so much unless it's food stuffs, gas, or going-out stuff (like movies). Yes. Definitely. Okay. We're doing this thing now and it's called "saving money."
Oh, also I tried a chai latte and it was pretty hella gross. It tasted like old Christmas decorations. I am so sad that I hate tea. I really thought that maybe I'd like chai, 'cause once when we were in Tallahassee, Keith got a chai + apple flavoring and it actually tasted good (like Christmas! In a good way!), but for some reason I didn't enjoy this at all. Usually things I'm not sure I'm gonna like + milk = eh it's okay (oddly enough, despite my absolute flaming hatred of milk).
O tea (and sushi), why does everyone else love you and yet I do not? I fear it shall never be, no matter how much I try.

Hola!
12:08 pm
Holy snap Target actually had my hair color! So I bought two, just in case. *hoards warily* Just going to Target, GameStop, Staples (had to drop off some candy that I bought for the communal candy pot om nom nom) and Dunkin' Donuts, I got so sweaty and igh (driving around in my air conditioned car) that I had to take a shower when I got home. I hate you Florida. The day that I see the last of you will be the happiest day of my life.
I bought a new purse at Target. This is a Major Thing for me. I'm not one of those crazy purse-and-shoe buying people. I only buy new shoes when my old ones are dead or dying... and I only have a few pairs at a time (right now I have sneakers, work sneakers [had to get black sneakers for work D<], nice shoes for interviews, new flip flops, old flip flips I refuse to throw away, and two pairs of clunky platform shoes for out-and-about days when I want to be as tall as my friends, lol). I've had my purse since... highschool, I think. It's basically just a big pouch with one little extra pocket sewn into the side for small things (I keep emergency medical rations in there). It's gotten pretty bleh lately, and I was thinking maybe it was time to retire it and get a new purse. I got a BRIGHT FUCKING RED ONE. I don't know if that's a good decision or not. It's also just a pouch, like my old one, and it does have the emergency-medical-ration-mini-pocket, which is good, and also what appears to be a cellphone sleeve. I actually like the one-big-pouch type purse, because unlike mom (and apparently everyone who comes through my line at Staples), I don't keep my whole world in there -- just my wallet, phone, ipod, a book and the aforementioned emergency medical rations. Oh, and lipgloss. I wither without my Burt's Bees. This new one is big enough for a library book, too. You know how library books are, always all huge and stuff.
Mom wanted me to look for a WiiFit for her, but alas, there are none. Even Amazon is all like "oh you want this... don't you..." like Emperor Palpatine...
Now that the Running of the Errands is complete, it is time to do some household chores and then off to the Project!

Bought two Nightflight doujin I didn't already have on ebay today. Hooray for ebay gift certificates! There was the newest Muffy doujin on there, too, and I do really want that one (I HAVE TO KNOW WHAT HAPPENS NGHGGHGH) but someone has already bid on it and I'm really bad at fighting people. >.> Other than that... I haven't heard from Staples yet. Maybe Monday. Was trying to take screencaps of Ghada so I could have a GW icon of my own character, and although I got a good one, it's difficult to fit into an icon. Ghada be lookin' damn fine though. You know what I noticed? Female necros have larger biceps than female dervishes. ???? Who's the one hauling the giant scythe around? What do necros have at most, a staff?

11:53 pm
So, I killed my phone. Luckily the phone death occured about five minutes before mom busted up in my hizzouse, so it was easily solved -- kind of -- by a trip to the Cingular store (which was right next to Publix, unfortunately for Krysti, who comes along on my grocery store runs).
I am sad to see the old phone go, but this new one's kind of cool, and it does the cool ringtones and I'm still with Cingular, so I should be able to get my old one back from the Cingular website, right?
Ha ha ha ha, no. That ringtone isn't available for this particular phone. This wouldn't be such a big deal, but I HAD THE IMPERIAL MARCH. IT WAS THE BEST RINGTONE EVER. D: No ringtone can EVER compare with the awesomeness that was the Imperial March, and now I have to have something lame instead. :/ STUPID TECHNOLOGY. I WANT MY RINGTONE BACK. I felt like such a badass when someone called me. :P
Anyway, today was spent in Shopping Therapy and video games and books were purchased. Also, I found TWO pairs of blue jeans to fit me! So I have FOUR pairs of jeans now. WOW. I would worry more about my extreme lack of PANTS (I'm not allergic to pants or anything, I just am allergic to pants shopping, because it is the most frustrating thing in the world that sometimes the size 4s fit and sometimes they don't, but neither do the 6s and neither do the 2s, and then sometimes the 4s will fit perfectly, but not lengthwise because short people don't exist, and by then I'm ready to light the pants on fire and the store with it), but in three months I'll be home and in my pajamas all the time anyway. But I have new pants anyway, as well as some cool books and Twilight Princess for my Wii machine and KHII for my PS360 (LULZ, kidding).

Things that make a happy Amanda: - Yesterday I finally cleaned out my poor email. Am so glad that's done.
- Went to the grocery store and bought various foodstuffs I had been craving, including a breakfast skillet, voila, and Lipton teriyaki noodles. Made teriyaki noodles for lunch and they were delicious.
- 1 1/2 hour nap.
- Went to Tar-jhey and they are having a TV BOX SET SALE OF HAPPINESS. Seriously. Go to your local Target NOW because OMFG. A lot of shows were 23 dollars each or cheaper, and holy shit. I gave in and bought myself the three box sets of Family Guy, because when else are they going to be this low? Now I own Family Guy and I can finally get caught up and YAYE. All of The Simpsons was also on sale but, yeah, I don't have that much money.
- Episode 9 of Host Club is out. OMG YAYE. I have SO MUCH LOVE FOR HOST CLUB.

Hey there, world.
06:54 pm
I am so sleepy. So, so sleepy. We have no caffinated beverages (Root Beer, orange soda, and caffiene-free Pepsi). Normally I wouldn't mind (in fact, I'm the one that asks for them), but today I woke up really early and I refuse to take naps (I always wake up more sleepy and fuzzy that I was when I first went down -- and I hate losing time!). I have convinced mom into getting fast food tonight just so that I can acquire a caffinated beverage of some sort. Hmm. Haven't been doing much lately, while at the same time doing a lot, if that makes sense. I'm mainly sitting around my room, working on the Sociology webpage or copying all of my LJ entries (which takes surprisingly longer than you'd imagine -- I'm only to March 2004 now! -- but I don't want to lose them if something horrible ever happens to LJ), occasionally running errands here and there when it's required of me. Tried bathing-suit shopping and that was a complete and utter failure, not to mention I made mom mad at me because clothes shopping really gets me bitching. Being short, thin, squat, and funny-shaped (apparently I have a "petite figure" according to mom, but to me it looks like someone took a normal person, put their hands on the person's head and feet, and pressed together -- I HAVE NO LEGS), it's hard for me to find clothes like pants. Bathing suits are a completely different story. At least pants exist. This new "mix-and-match" craze is complete bullshit. Instead of just having to work to find a bathing suit that fits, one now has to find a top that fits and then find a seperate bottom that fits (of course they don't sell the pieces together anymore!). Once I'd find a top that fit and that I liked, it was completely impossible to find a bottom that fit. Apparently people who are size 2-4 shouldn't be wearing bikini-bottoms -- oh, no, bikini-bottoms are for sizes 10-16 only, according to JC Penny! Basically this was my whole line of thought while we were in JC Penny, and it all came out my mouth. Unsurprisingly, mom wanted to kill me. I don't blame her. Today I went over to Ye Olde Mark Erdmann Toyata, which I swore never to return to after the Security System Incident. I got stuck in Merritt Island traffic and was only 10 minutes late to my 8:00 appointment. I got out at like 10:45. Ugh. Went to the mall to do some Parental Day shopping and then went to B&N to do some Amanda shopping (I cannot resist the sweet siren call that is books). Also, forgot to say that my grades came out: Myth Seminar: A Anthropology of Film: A 19th c. American Lit: A- Age of Alexander: A English Seminar (Bollywood & HK Cinema): A- I'm really surprised in the two A-s. Surprised that I actually managed to get one in the English Seminar of DOOM, and surprised that it wasn't a full A in American Lit? Meh? I thought I was doing well in that class! Maybe my final essays weren't so hot. Dunno. Anyway. I'm going to pretend it's all full As (stupid minuses, ruining my GPA). Anyway. Two hours later, I finish this post and have got my caffeine. Huzzah. EDIT: YTMND Master List updated, as well as the MP3 rotation thingus.

Normally I love Barnes & Noble, but I'm so pissed right now. I have $70 worth of gift certificates to spend with them, but they don't have any of the books I want in the stores. So I figured I'd go online and buy some stuff. Apparently not!
#1 - I guess mom must have an account, because B&N was like "OMG your membership card number is already being used by another account! HA HA HA HA!!" So first off, I wouldn't be able to get a discount...
#2 - You can only use one gift certificate at a time. So... I was going to buy $50 worth of books and use some of these certificates up, but seeing as they're all around $20 a piece, I'd have to use one for each book on like three different orders, and then have little bits left over on each card. Um. No. So I guess I'll go to the actual store and see if I can get them to morph it into one $70 card for me to use. Because... that's just very lame. :(
#3 - Not to mention their stuff is up to $5 more than it is on Amazon. :P
I love Barnes & Noble because it smells like books and coffee, but still this pisses me off. I was all ready to buy some books tonight. Arrgh!!!

Went shopping with mom this morning. Waterford Lakes + Sunday + Christmastime = traumatic. Anyway, we managed to get out alive. And even though it's Christmas, I bought myself some stuff. Ha ha. I bought myself a two-disc Sound of Music soundtrack. I think it's just something I needed to own. Also need to get it on DVD, because it's The Sound of Music, and it's almost illegal not to have it. Also found the Priscilla, Queen of the Desert soundtrack and bought that as well. Yaay Best Buy.
I have a headache and that makes me sad. Also, weather is sucky. It's been gray and overcast for the past two days.

Miracle City Hall!
01:55 pm
My home town is so special. You can tell how small it is by how many people we just saw at the mall. And we don't even have a mall in this town, I mean, a real mall, the kind that has wings and many stores and maybe even an upstairs and a food court. We have a "hall." It's just a straight down shot, and not very long. When I was younger there were quite a few different stores in there, but now all that's left is a JC Penny, Waldenbooks, Claire's, a Cingular kiosk or two, a men's suit store, a few local, non-chain stuff (an art store, a ghetto clothes store), and the rest is all empty, closed stores. In the middle is Dave's, the hotdog stand.
Anyway. While dad and I were doing some holiday shopping there, we managed to see: the mayor, MeMe's next-door neighbor (who practically spat "MERRY Christmas" at dad when he told her "have a good Christmas!"), Dave the hotdog stand guy (of course, he's always there), his daughter Heather (my cousin in law?) and my cousin Kerry (who's married to her), and THE MALL GUY, who is this (possibly homeless?) guy who always rode around on a bicycle and whose home base seemd to be the mall. When I was in elementary school, EVERYONE knew about THE MALL GUY and had these rumors that he lived in the attic of the mall or something. Anyway, we were eating hotdogs at Dave's and THE MALL GUY came and sat next to dad, and dad leans over to me and whispers "I'm sitting next to the Mall Guy!" THE MALL GUY is our local celebrity.
There was also this guy out in front of Waldenbooks who had written a children's book and was trying to get everyone and their brother to buy it. He caught me and dad and was trying to interest me in it. I eventually managed to slip off into the store and get away from him. Anyway, apparently he had been bugging Dave the Hotdog Guy to pimp his book for him, and he was wandering around the mall harassing people about it. It's kind of funny, but on the other hand I feel kind of sorry for him, because I want to write a book, too, and I hope that if it's horribly unpopular I'll just deal, rather than molesting people in malls about it.
Good old T-ville. Good old Christmas shopping. Blegh.

Completely Random Weekend Post of DOOM
01:18 pm
Busy weekend. Went to Rocky Horror at the SLB Friday night, and unfortunately it wasn't nearly as good as last time. The cast, I mean. When they shouted stuff you couldn't make out what they were saying, plus they weren't in sync, like they hadn't planned it out at all. One person would shout one thing and then a few seconds later someone would shout a different version of the same thing. Most of the times the audience came out with better stuff. The cast was all kind of dull, and a lot of audience members had much better costumes. The girl who played Frank did a pretty good job, though. She was really expressive.
Saturday I went shopping with The Gang. Unfortunately I needed new bras for I have somehow expanded (which I am none too pleased about). Apparently I am a 34B now whereas I used to be a 34A. WHAT HAPPENED, BOOBIES? But I suppose it was to be expected, since I hadn't bought new ones since highschool. I'm still very disappointed. Katie and Krysti also disagreed with my owning only two, and insisted that I at least needed four. So we went to Victoria's Secret (blleghhh) so I could get measured. I have never been surrounded by so much underwear in my life. It was very awkward. There was lots of weird kinky shit, too, but I suppose that's to be expected as it's Victoria's freakin' Secret. I was nearly traumitized. The lady who measured was the worst listener ever. "What type of bra are you looking for?" "Something with no cups, no wires, and no padding." So she hands me one with cups, wires, and padding. Yeah. How about no. She was just trying to pimp their stupid Ipex bra or whatever. I tried it on anyway, because I had never tried anything fancy on, and it felt very very uncomfortable. Anyway, there was one that was okay. Just like my old one, who would have thought? I found some more at JCPenny, by the same people who made my old ones. Do you know how hard it is to find something without all the extra gadgets? I didn't want any cups or padding or underwire, and almost all bras come with at least one of those but usually more. Sheesh. And the stupid buggers are about twenty dollars each. What a complete rip-off. So I spent about SIXTY DOLLARS on stupid bras. When I spend SIXTY DOLLARS, I expect it to be books, or a DVD set or two. It is so disappointing to come home with a bag of SIXTY DOLLARS and then you remember that it's SIXTY DOLLARS of something you absolutely hate but are forced to buy anyway. Stupid bras.
Went in Dillard's, too. Katie and Krysti had a field day trying on prom dresses for no reason at all other than just to try them on. Josh and I watched, because I didn't want to try on dresses and because Josh probably wouldn't look as nice in the dresses as they are made for girly-shaped people. Katie and Krysti both looked really nice in the dresses, though. Krysti had this cool peacock-looking one that was really nice, and there was a green one that made her look like a wood sprite, LOL. Meanwhile, I found the most awesome jacket in the entire world. And it was a lot of money. And after great deliberation, I bought it. I've never bought an expensive piece of clothing in my life, so I guess once is okay. The jacket is enormously cool. It's got a high collar and pointy shoulders (so cool) and it's fitted and it's so very, very 80s and fantastic. It's really pretty, too. Blue and gray and white. The only problem is that it's like 100% silk so it's like the most useless jacket ever. BUT SO COOL! I am going to start randomly wearing it around the house, just to get my money out of the damn thing.
Sunday I had to go to the library, and I still have a really big paper to write by Thanksgiving. I have so much schoolwork to do! Argh! So off I go.

03:55 pm
OMG. Just got back from Waterford Lakes and you wouldn't believe all the loot I got. Loot! Loot I say! Mom bought me hella new clothes at Target (don't laugh... I got some really good stuff and it actually FIT ME). Went to Barnes & Noble and was planning on splurging on books for once, but mom grabbed them from them in the line and bought them for me. Felt awfully guilty but OMG FREE BOOKS. Went to Best Buy and BOUGHT BATTLESTAR GALACTICA! So Krysti, when we have the BSG marathon Sunday, I'm prepared! XDDD Since I didn't spend insane amounts of money at B&N, I said screw it and spent $50 on BSG. Because! BSG! Starbuck and Boomer and Apollo and WHEE. Was really close to buying Harvey Birdman, too, but decided against it. Too much money at once, and I gotta save for goodies and food at DragonCon. Also randomly struck up a thirty-minute conversation with a fellow nerd in the aisle at Best Buy about Star Wars and BSG and Horatio Hornblower and various other things. I always enjoy talking to fellow nerds about nerdy things. Now, I'm off to roll in all my new books, because new books are one of the best things in the world. And they smell good, too. Like books. God, I love books. Also, GIP. Adorable Horatio and Archie by mata090680. :) EDIT: Thoughts on "GIP" - You know, "GIP" means "Gratitous Icon Post," meaning you're just posting to show off your new icon. But I think GIP has come to mean, "Hey, look at this new icon." At least it has for me, anyway. Because this post had some definite non-icon content, yet still, so much easier to say "GIP" than to say "HEY EVERYBODY LOOK AT THE SHINY."

India Day and the Restoration of the Internet
09:04 pm
So! Yesterday we had a crazy thunderstorm of doom, and our neighbor's backyard got lightninged and everything in our house went BZAP so we had no AC or anything but the radio for about two hours (and it was too dark to read). We later found out that mom's router got fried because I am TEH DUMB and didn't unplug everything. I forget that I'm not the only person I have to watch out for sometimes... too used to being in college. Thus, we had no internet. Mom and I just went out to Staples and she got a new router and! she bought! me! PSP9! OMG! I have six and have had six just about since my first step into the world of webpages. I know it's changed a lot since then, and it's going to absolutely KILL me getting used to it. Haven't installed it yet. I'm almost too scared. Eep! But it will have many nifty features, and also I'll be able to use pretty brushes that I haven't been able to use previously. ( India Day and more Bollywood ) What else is happening here... dad took me to get ice cream again, omg, and mom and I both got henna at India Day. <3 Oh, and I got to see Teh Sarah this morning! Yay! Yes indeedy. I've had a good day.
