I'm a little bit behind on what's happenin' in fandom, due to the vacation and all, but am just now getting caught up. My thoughts on:

Star Trek: SO GOOD. SO, SO GOOD. I thought it would be weird and lulzy seeing these other people, some of whom had already settled in my brain as OTHER characters, try and be TOS characters, but wow. WOW. I was most impressed by Eomer Karl Urban, who played the hell out of Dr McCoy.

I'm going again to see it tonight after class. <3

Dollhouse: WOAH. WOAH. WOAH. D: D: D: D: D: "Oh hey it's Wash awesome lol!" quickly became HOLY SNAP WHAT A TWEEST.

ANTM: Frakkin' setup, as usual. We all (meaning the internets) saw that one coming from like episode 2. It's all good, we all know that the winner goes on to be a CoverGirl for a year and then NOTHING, while the runners-up go on to actually have jobs and do things with their lives. Fo, you will always be one of my favorite contestants even though you cried about your hair and everything else.

  WTF is wrong with Bravo? I haven't gotten a chance to watch the latest episode of the new season of Project Runway -- that only just aired last night, btw, so I go to bravotv.com to see when it's going to be on again, and there on the front page they're like "So-and-so is the latest contestant to go home!"

  WHO DOES THAT. SERIOUSLY. It's a good thing I'm not too weird about spoilers for reality TV. If it had been SciFi and Battlestar Galactica, I would have had to maim write some angry letters.

  Worked sucked today, but I managed to not freak out and I finished almost everything! :D And I really made someone angry by refusing to bump them up past people who were already in the queue. Who doesn't understand the concept of a queue? They complained about me but the manager backed me up. Rock on.

  Things thought of while browsing fandom_secrets:

• I Netflixed the first season Avatar to see what the hubbub was all about. Um... it was okay, I guess, but it didn't leave me with any longing to see the rest of the series. Am I missing anything? Are the later seasons the better ones? To me it just seemed kind of oddly slow-paced, like 75% of it was filler with a few episodes of actual plot. I dunno, I gave it a chance. I'll netflix the second season if that's where the awesomeness starts, so let me know.
  
  Although I found out Zuko was voiced by RU! FI! OOOOOOOOOOOOO from Hook and I was like R U SERIOUS YES. I knew his voice sounded familiar.
  
  Also apparently Lt. Gaeta voices L in the English dub of Death Note. LOL SRS? ILU Gaeta.



• So I recently saw the latest season of Doctor Who, and I must say I do like Martha better! I think Rose is equally great but I really liked Martha. This has absolutely nothing to do with shipping, BTW. I never really saw Doctor/Rose or Doctor/Martha. There are some shows that I watch and just... don't even consider shipping, like Battlestar Galactica (okay, I admit I was all rooting for Team Apollo/Starbuck but after seasons 2 and 3 if they hook up I will be completely ughghgghghhgghh).



• Speaking of unneccessary shipping, South Park fandom. When I found out it existed beyond people going "Ha ha, did you see South Park last night?" I died a little inside. Seeing South Park secrets makes me want to stick my head in a bleach-filled toilet. THEY ARE LITTLE ROUND PAPER CUTOUTS PEOPLE. STOP IT. IF YOU EVER SAY THAT CARTMAN/KYLE IS YOUR OTP OR SOME SHIT I WILL GRAB YOU BY THE HAIR AND THROW YOU THROUGH A WALL. *goes and cries in a corner*

  I cried for the first time at work today. It may not be the last time. My mood fluctuates so much there. Sometimes I'm thinking, "this isn't so bad," and then the rest of the time I'm going "omgomg must gtfo of here before head explodes." The first half of the day did make me want to slam the copy machine on my head, and then the last half was pretty calm and groovy.

  Um... yeah, I'm just gonna check some shit, listen to one of my best cheering-up songs, and then go install Oblivion. Oh yeah.

  You know, I miss good TV. Project Runway and ANTM are great and all but I miss Battlestar Galactica. BSG, it's been so long, baby, won't you come back to me? I gotta know what's going on with zombie Starbuck and ... yeah.

• Uh, so yeah, FSU DID have my GRE scores. I don't know WTF happened there. :/ I'm kind of pissed because I could know by now whether I'm going to FSU or not, but hopefully now that they've got their shit together (I HOPE) I'll have my answer soon. PLEASE.



• To Jackie and Rachel: I got the present and the tea from Sara the other day and wanted to give you guys a big shout out of thanks! The book looks really interesting; I'm glad I'll have some fantasy on my "to-read list" to spice it up and throw some variety in there! :D



• I'm gonna reinstall Baldur's Gate II on my old laptop 'cause I'm missing it (BGII, not the old laptop -- mom wiped it and gave it to dad but of course he never uses anything we give him, so I figure I may as well put Baldy on it to save room on this laptop). It's come up so much in conversations lately that I figure that has to be a sign. XD I want to restart all my characters (I have the old games saved but it's been so long since I've played I doubt I could just pick it up again). I'm having trouble remember what my characters were though (I don't even remember ANYONE's aligntment). I remember:

• It's gonna be ANTM time again soon! Some of the girls are very pretty and some not so much... and I'm glad to see that Marvita made it to this cycle. I think Fatima is gorgeous! But first impressions, of course, mean nothing on Top Model, so I guess we'll have to see who I end up rooting for.



• Star Wars Guide to the Candidates - I'm not really big on political humor (besides The Daily Show, of course), but this is pretty freaking great.

  Dang, I thought there was something else I was going to say but I've gone and forgotten it.

  Ugh, Top Model. This was a season of intense fail. I kind of wanted to give up watching the season finale after the first half, but I figured, if I watched the entire season I may as well watch till the end to see who wins.

  Although reading all the similar reactions, vomiting and Tyra-hating over on topmodel is cheering me up.

  There are three reasons I watch this show:

1) I like to see the photo shoots.
2) Outlet for rage, hating and general grumpiness.
3) Mocking Tyra is great fun!

1. I had a dream the other night that I went to the Oscars and sat between Krysti and Mark Twain. Mark Twain kept yammering on the whole time and complaining, but it was okay because the Oscars were boring. Kirsten Dunst sang a song. I kept having to leave to go to the bathroom.

3. Thanks to the advice of a friend of melancthe's, I WAS TREASURE HUNTING IN NIGHTFALL. Oh shit, I need to get more characters further into Nightfall, because I made 16 PLAT IN JUST AN HOUR OR TWO. I also ended up with a shit-ton of golds I ... don't really know what to do with besides hawk them on guildwars -- I have no idea how much I should be selling them for, though. I mostly got paragon shit, which I don't need 'cause I don't have a paragon and I don't really want one. I now have 35K in my Xunlai account, and it's been soooo long since I've had that much (stupid jewel-encrusted skirt and shoes). Slowly but surely I will make my way towards this, this (omg feaaatherrrs), this and this (although I'm STILL not sure what armor I want for my monk) -- in that order, methinks. STILL can't decide on a male Ele armor set that doesn't look really really STUPID. Before I was gonna go for that Vabbian pimp coat and gloves with different pants and shoes, but now with the Eye of the North stuff I'm not really so sure... ugh. Eldor will never get new clothes.



4. Ha ha, the girl I didn't like on America's Next Top Model was the first to go. Also, Tyra is still as loco as ever, but the no smoking rule is cool, so good for her for laying down the law.

1.   Watching Doctor Who season 2. Unfortunately the first disc, which I got from Netflix, only has the Christmas Invasion and the first episode on it, both of which I've already seen. Rewatching first episode. CATPEOPLE. XD



2.   I had this really weird dream last night that Mrs. Kuon was going to take a bunch of us -- the same group that went to HP5 -- to a restaurant. Except I took forever to get ready, and I accidentally invoked the wrath of Mrs. Kuon. XD She seriously wanted me to die. It was scary. Then the dream changed and it was mom, Mrs. Kuon and I and some random people who were apparently friends of Mrs. Kuon's. My mom was very uncharacteristically rude during the dinner, and Mrs. Kuon's friends moved to a different table. I was really upset that my mom was acting so strangely -- and so horribly. I woke up and I was like BLAAUGHGH!! and sat straight up. XD



3.   I finished HP6 on time and with a few days left to go, so I'm doing some (really) easy reading to fill in the space. I'm rereading one of my old favorites, Catherine, Called Birdy. I picked it off the bookshelf and started laughing. I remembered what the cover looked like except one thing, which I had forgotten and was pleasantly reminded of. As you can see, one of Catherine's suitors is serenading behind her... what's amusing is that the dude looks exactly like my father. XD

1. So mom and I have been watching Long Way Round, which is amazing and I recommend it to anyone. It's taking a while to watch it because mom gets home kinda late and then goes to bed early, and in between has a lot of phone calls. >.< We only have two episodes left, though. Watching this is really making me want to go on a road trip across the country. I've always wanted to do it. Just like in a movie, you know? I need to do this one day. Just take a couple of weeks and drive to California one way -- like through the southwest -- and then back, through the best bits in the northwest. I need to do this. D: In the meantime, I'll just beef up my ipod playlists in the hopes that one day I will be able to do this. :/



2. Poor dad. It hasn't really rained here in weeks. This morning he starts painting the porch, and just as soon as he finishes -- total downpour.



3. I forgot to mention that on Father's Day we went down to the jetty at Cocoa Beach and watched people fish before walking down the beach a ways. The jetty was really cool because there were lots of sea turtles just chilling out by the rocks! For some reason I didn't think sea turtles came so close to the shore, but they were eating dropped bait and stuff (kind of scary -- I hope no one has caught a sea turtle :/). There were lots of little ones and we were all very impressed until we looked over to the side and there was this giant KING OF ALL SEA TURTLES just kind of chilling out in the water. It was as big as a tire, like, a redneck truck tire. Oh, we also saw a barracuda chilling out in the water as well, which is frightening because I always thought of those being further out to sea, too. And like right on the other side of the jetty are people playing in the water. So I'm definitely not going in the water ever again. As if crabs and stingrays and jellyfish and sharks weren't bad enough, now I have to worry about barracudas as well. Besides that, it was a lovely day for the beach -- unfortunately, soooooo much better than the day Amanda and I went to Playalinda beach -- Amanda, if you ever come here again, we're going to Cocoa Beach instead, even though there are lots more people. :/ Except I'm not getting in the goddamn water because APPARENTLY THERE ARE BARRACUDAS.

  Anyway, got stuff to do, so off I go...

Robot Chicken Star Wars-themed special on Sunday, June 17! I know some of you will want to watch this. From the looks of the trailer, it looks like there'll be some old favorites as well as a lot of new stuff! The trailer's pretty funny, too.

  Next season of BSG is officially its last. While that makes me sad, 'cause I <3 BSG and all, I'm glad they kept it kinda short. Making it go on and on and on wouldn't have worked for this show. At least this way it'll never jump the shark. :) Now if only I didn't have to wait till NEXT YEAR to see the next season! It's DRIVING ME CRAZY!!!

  Finally figured out how to make all that Sociology web work pass quickly. I just download and listen to a lot of stand-up comics rather than music. It gives my mind something to focus on. It works wonderfully. I managed to find a bunch of audio versions of some of my favorite Comedy Central specials. They're so fantastic, I wanted to share them with you all:

• Pablo Francisco - This Comedy Central special is one of my all-time favorites. I could listen to this forever and it never gets old. I seriously need to find out if this guy has more stuff.


• Nick Swardson - Same as above. All-time fave. One of my favorite specials. XD The part about old people and his grandma are my favorite, although the bit about his funeral is great, too. "Is that John Stamos?"


• Dane Cook - A lot of people like Dane Cook, and a lot of people don't. I think some of his stuff is kind of meh, but some of his bits are really funny. So here I have a zip file of some of my favorites of his stuff. Included: Car Accident, Driveway, Dream House, Creepy Guy at Work, My Son Optimus Prime, Nightmare, Tire in the Face.


• Lewis Black - If it weren't for my horse, I wouldn't have spent that year at college. A zip file with two Lewis Black Comedy Central specials.

  Also, this amused me, because as a non-drinking college student, I know full well how true it is.
